An Arctic fox, partly because the fox appears to be on the cover of Animal Vogue these days (plus mugs, tea towels and T-shirts) and mostly because my father's favourite fable is "The Fox and the Grapes". He loves stories with morals. The life lessons lattice-worked into Aesop's tales charmed him. When I was little, he would read the story in Italian and then translate: "This means you have to be working hard. Nothing in this life is come easy. Especially not the thing you want most."
Right? That a doozy of a pep talk for a kid. Sour grapes are good for whine, but I prefer Sour Cherry Cheesecake.
Ending the year with hugs and kisses, deep bows of gratitude, and a few rousing off-key renditions of Hallelujah.
